Honest LeadPages Review: Full Tutorial and Walkthrough

Building highly converting squeeze pages is critical to any online business. One wrong move (for example, something as silly as not integrating it to your autoresponder) and it could send your ROI in a plummeting downward spiral really fast!

Landing pages are generally the first point of contact and hence they are the doors to your business. You would most definitely want it to look professional and inviting to all visitors, because once they turn away, they won’t come back. This would be advertising money not well spent.

You could spend all day playing around with CSS and HTML coding to build an awesome looking squeeze page, only to realise that you need to build another one to split test against and then ultimately to optimize. Trust me, that would be a lot of your precious time wasted. 🙁

Alternatively, you could hire someone, who knows a thing or 2 about coding and pay them to make you plain looking squeeze pages. Either way, you’ll be spending time or money, so why not just invest it into a software that does the job for you well and quickly

Introducing…

[su_heading size=”28″ margin=”40″]All You Need To Know About LeadPages[/su_heading]

LeadPages is a tool that I use extensively. It is one of the most user friendly software out there. You can have a squeeze page up and running in a matter of minutes without knowing all the technical coding of a website.

It integrates well with a great deal of email marketing services.  It thrives on its simplicity and is trusted by some of the biggest names in our industry as well.

They have a massive team, which is constantly updating all of their features to suit the user’s needs and create more unique templates that are proven to convert.

[su_frame]Leadpages Review Backoffice[/su_frame]

Let’s take a look at the back office of LeadPages for a moment. As you can see within the red box, you can choose templates from many different categories. You can create almost any landing page for your desired goal.

Additionally, you can also sort the pages by conversion rate. LeadPages collects information across the board and filters the best converting pages  for you to choose from – one of many great features that I love.

[su_heading size=”28″ margin=”40″]Setting Up a LeadPage Squeeze Page[/su_heading]

Creating pages within LeadPages is really simple, but before you start using the templates to create your awesome landing pages, you first need to set up a few things.

Integrating Autoresponder

To integrate your autoresponder of choice is really easy. In my case, my autoresponder is with GetResponse.

So, head over to the ‘Account Tab’ as shown in the screenshot below. Next, click on ‘Integrations’ and it will take you to a page with all the associated email marketing services you can connect it to. Choose the autoresponder of your choice and insert your API key from your autoresponder and then just ‘Connect’. Once that’s all done, you have now integrated your autoresponder to LeadPages with just a few simple clicks.

Customizing the Templates

Customizing the page from a template is also very easy.

Every box on the page can be edited or removed (i.e. hidden). This includes images, texts, buttons and the lot. There are two ways to edit the page. You can either hover your mouse over the box you want to edit and click on it, or you can look for it on the left hand side bar and adjust it accordingly.

You can also hide what you don’t want to be shown by clicking on the eye icon in the left side bar.

[su_frame]Leadpages Template[/su_frame]

When it comes to changing the colour to match your brand better, simply click on the ‘Styles’ tab next to the content tab. Choose the section you want to change the colour for and then pick the colour that works best with your brand or taste.

[su_frame]Leadpages Styles[/su_frame]

As you can tell, this page is what they call a ‘2-step opt-in page’. The opt-in form is nowhere to be found until the lead clicks on the button. Once they click on the button, a box will appear asking for the prospect’s details. This box can also be customized to your liking and this is where we will choose the email list we want the lead to land in.

What details you want to collect is up to you.  You can choose to capture name, phone number and/or email address by ticking the boxes under Form Fields.

To connect it to your list campaign (autoresponder):

[su_highlight]click on the integration settings –> choose the autoresponder –> choose the list.[/su_highlight]

This will now be set up so that when a lead fills out the opt-in form, their details will be sent to the list you have chosen. List building 101! 🙂

Now that your page is the way you want it to be and you have inserted your awesome copy-writing and added the appropriate images, you will need to give the page a name.

This will only be for your reference within your dashboard. The permalink (page-url), however, will be visible for everyone to see so make sure that you give it a name that makes sense.

To see what the page looks like on a phone or tablet, at the top of the page you will see ‘responsive’ highlighted. To see what it looks like on a phone, just simply click on the phone tab and your page will show a preview of a phone.

[su_frame] Leadpages Preview[/su_frame]

All that’s left now is to save the page and publish it!

To publish the page, you have a few options.

  1. Using the LeadPages link – Lightning speed server
  2. WordPress – Using LeadPages’ plugin to publish on your WordPress site
  3. Facebook – As a Facebook tab
  4. Your own server – Publishing it on  your own server (speaks for itself)

Speed might not mean much to you yet, especially when you are dealing with such minuscule numbers. However, delaying the page load time by 1 second actually increases user drop off, therefore reducing conversions. 🙁

People just don’t like the idea of waiting!

LeadPages uses Google’s server network to host all of their pages, so all of their pages load super fast. No matter how much detail or images you have on it.

Once you’re happy with the page you have created, don’t forget to split test and we all know how important it is to split test! 🙂

[su_heading size=”28″ margin=”40″]Setting Up Your Split Test Campaign[/su_heading]

Luckily, LeadPages makes it really easy to test two different pages.

By clicking the ‘A/B Test’ tab, you can choose between variations of the existing page you have just created. Either test it against a completely new template or a previous page that you have created.  This really depends on your split testing goals.

[su_frame]Leadpages Dashboard[/su_frame]

[su_frame]Leadpages split test[/su_frame]

After you start sending some visitors to the split test URL, you can find out which page is actually winning!

Just click on the ‘Analytics’ button to find out which of the pages are converting better.

Here is what it should look like…

… Without any visitors to it!

[su_frame]Leadpages Split test results[/su_frame]

You will be able to compare the pages in question and find out which of them is out performing the other.

You can also set the percentage of the traffic you want to go to a specific page. For example, see where it says ‘Priority’? You can set the Original to receive 75% of the traffic, while the ‘Variation 1’ only gets 25% of the traffic. If you decide to can the losing page, it’s just 2 clicks away!

[su_frame]Leadpages Split test adjust[/su_frame]

So that’s how to create some killer squeeze pages using LeadPages. However, there is more to LeadPages than just creating squeeze pages. You can create some awesome Thank-You-pages, download pages, sales pages, launch pages and more!

I won’t get into each of the categories because once you know how to build 1 type of page, you can do it for all of them. 😀

They really do live up to their claims to be the easiest lead generation platform. The interface is really simple but quite flexible at the same time. You can build landing pages within minutes without any headache. They are constantly updating their templates and adding more to the pool of already awesome templates. The good thing about these templates are that they are designed to convert!

*UPDATE*

LeadPages has announced a new feature called LeadBoxes.

[su_heading size=”28″ margin=”40″]What is LeadBoxes?[/su_heading]

LeadBoxes is the perfect tool for every blogger. As most of the pages you build in LeadPages are 2 step opt-ins (known to convert a lot higher compared to single opt-ins) the same concept is applied to LeadBoxes. The only difference is that you can place a button or a link anywhere on your page.

Here is an example of LeadBoxes in action: Click Here To Download Our Free eBook . (Note: This is not a test. Feel free to use your best email so we can send you our guide)

Above is an example of a LeadBoxes link. If you haven’t clicked on it yet, check it out and click on it. 🙂

Below is an example of a LeadBoxes image/button. You can turn any image into a LeadBox, click on it to see for yourself!

[su_heading size=”28″ margin=”40″]Setting up LeadBoxes[/su_heading]

The box itself is completely customizable like any other LeadPages’ page. You can hide/edit any of the boxes and change the colour by going through the styles tab. Once you integrate the list you want it to connect to and save it, you can also split test different boxes to see which one of the two or three converts higher.

[su_frame]Leadboxes Review Builder[/su_frame]

Now that everything is set up and ready to roll, publishing a LeadBox is a tad different from a typical LeadPages’ page. Here is where you need to know a bit about HTML coding … well not really… it’s more copy and pasting but you do need to know where to paste it.

LeadPages does provide a video tutorial explaining what to do with the code, so if you’re still confused, then check out their video.

[su_frame]Leadboxes Review Code[/su_frame]

Before you copy and paste the HTML code into your website,  you need to customize the LeadBox with your text or image first. To make it a text link, just simply type in the text you want it to appear and then click ‘Use this custom text’.

Otherwise, if you want to use an image or button, just upload the image, click on the image you want to use and then select on ‘Use this custom image’. This will automatically change the HTML code in the previous box to your customization needs.

[su_frame]Leadboxes Customization[/su_frame]

Now it’s just a matter of copying the piece of code and pasting it into your website (I would not mind showing you how, but LeadPages does a wayyyyyy better job at it 🙂 , so I’ll leave it to them).

The reason why LeadBoxes work so well is because the user never has to leave the page. No point sending that person away from your site just to get them to opt-in. This can decrease your conversions!

Another good reason why LeadBoxes work so well is because of the 2-step process. By clicking on an image and having the opt-in box appear, it also increases the conversions. LeadPages does a lot of extensive testing and this has been the case for all of their pages. They always want only the best for their customers.

You can already imagine how powerful LeadBoxes alone can be. Start implementing it straight away and see your lead conversions sky rocket!

Another feature of LeadPages (YES, there’s more!) is LeadLinks.

[su_heading size=”28″ margin=”40″]What is LeadLinks?[/su_heading]

So I have mentioned quite a bit about the 2-step process for capturing your leads and you know that it increases your conversions. What if you can maximize that by 100%, meaning that as soon as someone clicks on a link you are guaranteed a conversion? Pretty cool stuff right?

Well, let me show you what LeadLinks is all about. LeadLinks uses what they call a “0 step process”, simply click on a link and …

[su_animate type=”wobble” duration=”4″]BOOM!!![/su_animate]

They are in. No landing pages, no registration forms, nada!

This is perfect for segmenting your list or registering for a webinar. Let’s face it, people are lazy. If they received an email to register for a webinar, asking them to click on the link and fill out their details, some won’t bother with it and would just drop out. 🙁

How it works is it makes the most of that clickable link in your email. Just by clicking on that link in your email, they will automatically opt-in to another list/sub-list or automatically register for a webinar. Once they click on on the link, they will be sent to the Thank-You page.

The only catch is that you need to be transparent about it. For example, you need to state in the email that once they click on the link, they will be instantly registered for the webinar.

Here is a video that explains more about LeadLinks and how to employ it in your business.

Conclusion

LeadPages is a wonderful piece of software. I don’t see any online business not having the need to use it. The LeadPages team is working around the clock to always come up with the best features and updates and it’s only going to get better from here.

I do highly recommend it if you’re looking to save a lot of time and money. It doesn’t matter whether you’re new to the internet marketing game or a seasoned veteran – It caters for all. There are many more features that I have yet to mention, but I didn’t because quite simply there are just way too many.

Unfortunately, they don’t have a free trial, but they do offer a 30 day money back guarantee. So, if you don’t like it for any reason within the 30 days, you can get your full money back –  no problem-O. Honestly, I don’t see any reason why you won’t like it.

Try it for yourself and let me know what you think!
