On-site YouTube SEO & How To Optimize Your Videos
When it comes to ranking your YouTube videos, keep in mind that there is no way to guarantee that your video will rank. That’s because there are so many variables that come into play. Things like the overall quality of your video, how your audience responds to your video, viewer retention, average watch time and so on.
This is why I have been emphasising on how important it is to really do your research well before thinking about creating your videos. Having that said, I’ll show you how you can make the most of the YouTube SEO ranking factors that you can control.
The bottom-line for this is that you need to include your target keywords in your video file name, the title of your video, in the description box (aim for a minimum of at least 200 words and include many different variations of your keywords or related keywords) and also in the tags (include synonyms) of your video. A good strategy is to have a look at a competitor’s ranking video to see how they have included keyword optimisation in their video.
Keep in mind that the keyword must be relevant to the content of your video. That’s because if a user finds your video through YouTube’s search engine, but leaves your video within 10 seconds, this will tell YouTube that your video was not relevant to their search and it can really harm your chances of ranking that video.
How To Increase Views To Your Video
To increase views to your video, I suggest you use an eye catching thumbnail. Use large easy to read fonts and colours that really stand out. This will help with your click-through rates and increase views.
If you don’t change your thumbnails manually, YouTube will take 5 random snippets of your video and use them as your thumbnail.
How To Make Money From Your YouTube Videos
There are many ways to make money on YouTube, but one of the easiest ways is to become a partner on YouTube. This means you allow YouTube to place ads on your videos. Of course, you won’t make much money, if you don’t get many views.
Another method to make money is through launch jacking. The idea behind is that you create a video on a product that will be launched in the near future and upload it on to YouTube. Once the product is actually launched, organic search engine traffic will start to pour in.
Since you have already optimised your video and positioned it correctly, you’ll be able to earn affiliate sales from people, who land on your video. The important thing to remember, when you want to include affiliate links in your description box, is to have it at the very top of your description. That’s because the viewer will only be able to see the first three lines of your description without having to click on the ‘SHOW MORE’ field.
Of course, you can also create review or tutorial videos on affiliate products and rank those videos to earn affiliate commissions from any sales you make directly from your video.
If you want to brand yourself or promote your brand through YouTube video, then have a link pointing back to your blog or website on the top of your description box.
